In the United States, massive flooding is still ongoing, and floodwaters are not expected to crest until Friday. The danger to residents in North Carolina and South Carolina is far from over. In SC, more than 11 Nazarene churches have been providing shelter to families who were forced to evacuate.
In Haiti, at least 1 Nazarene church member has passed away, and more than 535 Nazarene families have lost homes, crops, and livelihoods. In the southwest, 30 of 33 church buildings collapsed, and most pastors lost their homes.
Through Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, church leaders have distributed hundreds of crisis care kits, food packages, Sawyer water filters, and high-quality tents that each shelter up to 12 individuals. Another 1,500 water filters, 150 tents, and 140,000 pre-packaged meals are on their way to Haiti.
In Cuba, more than 1 million people have been evacuated, and homes and buildings have been severely damaged in the Baracoa and Maisi areas. Church leaders estimate that 15 churches have been damaged and at least 29 Nazarene families have been left homeless.
The Bahamas was hammered by winds and rain. The Church of the Nazarene reports that the Nazarene district office and many churches have been damaged.
